UNDERSTANDING CONSTIPATION IN BABIES

Before delving into the remedy, it’s important to understand why constipation occurs in babies. Factors such as diet, hydration, and physical activity can all play a role.

Babies transitioning to solid foods or consuming formula may experience changes in bowel movements, leading to constipation. Additionally, dehydration and lack of fiber in the diet can contribute to this issue.

Worry not, there are many ways to relieve a constipated baby. Chia seeds are one of them.

BENEFITS OF CHIA SEED PUDDING FOR BABIES AND TODDLERS

Chia seeds are tiny powerhouses of nutrition, packed with fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and various vitamins and minerals. When mixed with liquid, chia seeds form a gel-like consistency, making them a perfect base for pudding. Here are some reasons why chia pudding can help relieve constipation in babies.

  • Fiber is essential for promoting regular bowel movements. Chia seeds are an excellent source of soluble fiber, which adds bulk to stool and helps it pass through the digestive system more easily.
  • Chia seeds can absorb liquid and retain it in the digestive tract, promoting hydration. Proper hydration is crucial for softening stool and preventing constipation.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids found in chia seeds have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help soothe the digestive system and promote overall gut health.
  • Chia seeds are packed with essential nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, which are important for the development and functioning of the digestive system
